Администрация Панамского канала ограничивает движение судов из-за сильной засухи
Администрация Панамского канала (АПК) объявила о введении с 18 апреля ограничений на проход судов через эту межокеанскую артерию из-за сильной засухи, сообщает ТАСС.
Из заявления представителей АПК в понедельник, 21 марта, следует, что эта мера вводится в связи с падением уровня воды в двух искусственных озерах, через которые пролегает путь, связывающий Атлантический и Тихий океаны.
“Максимальная осадка судов, которые смогут проходить через канал, с 18 апреля будет составлять не более 11,89 метра”, – говорится в заявлении. Эта “временная и превентивная” мера принята в связи с тем, что уровень воды в озерах Гатун и Алахуэла “значительно ниже средних показателей для этого времени года”.
При этом, если в течение ближайших недель в этом районе пройдут дожди и уровень воды в озерах повысится, судоходные компании будут оповещены об изменении ограничений на проход судов.
О введении аналогичных мер сообщалось в августе прошлого года – также из-за падения уровня воды в озерах, однако они так и не были применены благодаря выпавшим осадкам.
Впервые ограничения на проход судов через Панамский канала были введены в 1998 году, когда на территории центральноамериканской страны отмечалась сильнейшая засуха, напоминает ТАСС.
Однако работа канала может быть остановлена и в случае чрезмерных осадков. Так, в декабре 2010 года вода в озерах Гатун и Алахуэла поднялась до исторических максимумов, создав угрозу для судоходства. Были приняты экстренные меры для сброса воды из одного такого озера.
Для нормального функционирования системы шлюзов в Панамском канале необходимо 202 тысячи кубометров воды для обеспечения прохода каждого судна. Ранее представители АПК указывали, что в нынешнем году засуха окажется одной из самых сильных за последние 100 лет. Из-за нее уже с начала года в искусственных озерах, через которые пролегает межокеанская артерия, отмечалось заметное снижение уровня воды.
