На Сицилии снова проснулся крупнейший в Европе вулкан
На итальянском острове Сицилия в ночь на субботу начал извергаться вулкан Этна. Серия извержений длилась несколько часов, но местным жителям проблем не доставила, сообщает РИА “Новости” со ссылкой на издание Catania Today.
Специалисты Национального института геофизики и вулканологии Италии сегодня заявили, что активность вулкана на данный момент угрозы для людей не представляет, передает ТАСС.
Итальянское агентство ANSA же отмечает, что ближайший к вулкану аэропорт города Катании сейчас работает в нормальном режиме. Во время предыдущих извержений вулкана властям приходилось отменять рейсы и перенаправлять их в другие регионы страны.
Кадры произошедшего накануне природного явления были опубликованы очевидцами в YouTube. На записи можно наблюдать выбросы пепла и лавы, которые, впрочем, уступают по масштабам тем, что наблюдались в декабре прошлого года. То извержение стало для Этны самым мощным за десятилетие.
За всю историю Этна извергалась множество раз, неоднократно уничтожая целые поселения. По мнению ученых, в последнее время Этна, прозванная местными жителями “дружелюбным вулканом”, становится опасной. Участились извержения, кроме того, меняется их характер.
Последний раз гибель людей из-за вулканической деятельности Этны была зафиксирована в 1987 году, когда двое туристов погибли в результате внезапного извержения вблизи вершины.
